Authorised Leaving of Premises

Staff will supervise the collection of all students leaving the premises at the end of each session.  Taxi drivers are required to list the names of the students they are allocated to collect.

Parents/carers are required to inform OWLS staff of any changes in the collection of students, ie driver, time, address, prior to the collection of the student.

Unauthorised Leaving of Premises

If a student tries to leave the premises without permission he/she will be considered as absconding.  Best efforts must be made to de-esculate the situation as per staff training.  If this fails the school or referring body must immediately be informed.

No effort should be made to forcibly return the student to the premises.

Staff must keep within view of the student at all times and keep in communication with staff at OWLS premises.

The police must be informed.

The student must not be restrained unless he poses a danger to others or himself/herself.
